When to ride in Costa Rica
- Daylight
- Roughly 05:30 to 18:00 year round. Cloud-forest altitude means cool mornings even in the dry months — carry a layer for the descents.
- Wind
- The Papagayo winds blow hard across Guanacaste and northern Nicoya from December to March. In the veranillo the air is still.
- Surface
- Sealed roads on the traverse; hard-packed dirt and gravel across the peninsula, firm in the little dry spell.
